Spotlight: Jordyn Latter; Building Character and Inspiring the Next Generation
At Scoreboard, we believe in developing leaders who will impact their teams, schools, and communities. This semester, we are proud to introduce one of our newest interns, Jordyn Latter, a junior at Winston-Salem State University who is already making her mark through leadership, character, and service.
A Charlotte, North Carolina native, Jordyn competed as a high school basketball player where she valued teamwork just as much as her sport itself. As a student at Winston-Salem State University, her position in athletics looks different now; she serves as an equipment manager for the WSSU Rams football team. Her role keeps her close to the game-day action, but also reminds her of the discipline, organization, and teamwork from her basketball days that now fuel her success both on and off the football field.
Just over a month and a half in as our Leadership and Character Intern, Jordyn has consistently shown up with energy and passion. She’s played a key role in Girl Code, our mentorship program at Speas Elementary designed to empower young girls to grow in confidence, leadership, and character. In fact, she took the lead on a meeting on her second time volunteering!
During her first meeting, Jordyn led a self-awareness session titled “Stay In Your Lane.” The lesson encouraged 5th graders to understand the importance of maintaining their youth by focusing on learning, growing, and enjoying having less responsibilities. Jordyn reminded the group that childhood is a special season that shapes who they become, and it shouldn’t be rushed.
Jordyn is not just a participant, but a leader. She’s discovering the value of mentorship, planning, and purpose-driven service. Her spirit successfully guides young students in the local community.
At Scoreboard, we are thrilled to see Jordyn grow in her journey, and we know she will continue to inspire the next generation of student-athletes.
Jordyn’s story reminds us why our work matters. When young leaders step up to mentor the next generation, the impact multiplies permeates through classrooms, locker rooms, and communities.
