Spotlight: Jordyn Latter; Building Character and Inspiring the Next Generation

Jordyn Latter, one of our youth mentors for the Girl Code program, stood before a room of 5th graders and asked a simple but powerful question: “What is a mentor?” One by one, hands shot into the air as students shared their own definitions—words like support, guidance, listening, and showing the right way filled the room.

In that moment, mentorship stopped being an abstract idea and became something real, personal, and lived. Jordyn didn’t just teach about mentorship, she modeled it. Through her leadership, presence, and willingness to invest in young people, she reminded us that mentors don’t just speak; they create space for others to be heard. This is how leadership grows, one raised hand and one meaningful connection at a time.
